Obesity, often misunderstood as merely a lifestyle issue, is increasingly recognized as a complex medical condition linked to more than 200 diseases, including Type 2 Diabetes, cardiovascular disorders, and certain cancers. Experts highlighted that delayed treatment and stigma surrounding obesity continue to hinder effective care and place additional strain on healthcare systems.

Speaking at the event, Maja Mortensen emphasized the importance of collaboration in tackling complex health challenges. She noted that partnerships and innovation are essential to improving healthcare outcomes and acknowledged Denmark’s contributions to advancing global medical solutions.

Tasnim Ahsan, Professor Emerita and Dean at the Medicell Institute of Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism, stressed that obesity in certain cases requires medical intervention under professional guidance. She encouraged individuals to consult healthcare providers and explore available treatment options.

Rashed Rafique Butt highlighted the company’s long-standing commitment to obesity care, noting that decades of research underpin its efforts. He stated that the initiative reflects a science-based, patient-focused approach aimed at improving long-term health outcomes.

The “Live Lighter” initiative aims to shift perceptions around obesity, promote early diagnosis, and encourage evidence-based treatment, contributing to a more inclusive and effective healthcare response in Pakistan.
