Showbiz Desk: For the first time in the 94 Yrs history of the Miss England Contest, model Melisa Raouf made history by reaching the finals without makeup.
A 20-year-old British college student of politics Melisa Raouf is the first model in the 94 Yrs history of Miss England to reach and win the semi-finals without makeup.
She has won the honour of being the first beauty queen to win the semi-final without makeup and qualified for the finals of Miss England, now she will compete for the crown of Miss England in the finals in October 2022.
Speaking to foreign media, Melisa said, “It meant a lot to me because I feel that many girls of different ages wear makeup only because they feel socially pressured to do it.”
Melisa Raouf, from South London, says that ‘if someone is happy in their skin, then they don’t need to cover their face with makeup, our flaws and imperfections are what make us unique. She started making makeup from a young age, but while participating in the competition, she decided to avoid this tradition when she entered the pageant.’
She never felt that she met the standard of beauty, but recently she realized that she is beautiful just the way she is, so she decided to enter the beauty pageant without makeup, Melisa added.
In May 2022, Mel shared a photo on Instagram in which she wrote, “Bare Face” round of the competition, and she was embracing blemishes and imperfections.
Speaking to foreign media, Angie Beasley, director of Miss England said that, we introduced the bare-faced Top Models round in 2019 because most of the models sent edited photos with too much makeup, which made it difficult to see the real person behind the makeup.
According to management, Mel plans to compete in the National final in October without makeup.
We wished her the best of luck in Miss England, Mel is conveying an important message to young women; it is a very difficult decision when all the other candidates are participating with makeup and you stand out among them, Beasley added.
Meanwhile, last Monday Melisa Raouf qualified for the final competition of Miss England without makeup, now she will compete for the crown of Miss England in the final in October 2022.
