LAHORE: The High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, participated in the ASEAN Committee in Islamabad (ACI) Heads of Mission visit to Lahore from April 27 to 30, 2026, aimed at strengthening regional engagement and enhancing economic, academic, and cultural cooperation between ASEAN member states and Punjab.

The visit, organized under the ACI framework, brought together ASEAN Heads of Mission for a series of high-level meetings, institutional engagements, and cultural visits designed to deepen collaboration with Pakistan at both federal and provincial levels.
As part of efforts to advance economic diplomacy, Ambassador Mohammad Azhar Mazlan participated in the ASEAN Roundtable and Hot Seat Dialogue held at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).
Discussions during the session focused on industrial collaboration, trade facilitation, investment opportunities, and expanding partnerships between ASEAN economies and Pakistani businesses.
The visit also emphasized academic and educational cooperation through participation in a programme at University of the Punjab. The session highlighted the growing importance of education, cultural understanding, and people-to-people exchanges in strengthening ASEAN-Pakistan relations.
Student-led cultural performances were also presented during the academic engagement, showcasing shared cultural connections and promoting regional harmony.
In addition to official meetings, the ASEAN delegation visited several historic and cultural landmarks in Lahore, including the Wagah Border and Shalimar Gardens, reflecting Punjab’s rich cultural heritage and promoting mutual understanding between ASEAN nations and Pakistan.
The ACI Heads of Mission visit reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment, alongside fellow ASEAN member states, to enhancing multifaceted cooperation with Pakistan in areas including trade, education, tourism, cultural exchange, and regional connectivity.
Diplomatic officials described the visit as an important step toward strengthening ASEAN-Pakistan engagement and fostering long-term partnerships that contribute to regional development and economic collaboration.
