Karachi ( Sports Reporter ) Legendary players associated with the colorful game inaugurated the Snooker Club at Naya Nazimabad Gymkhana. Current world champion Muhammad Asif, former world champion Muhammad Yousuf, Asian junior champion Hasnain Akhtar and former national champion Asjad Iqbal participated. The guests inaugurated the Snooker Hall with a ribbon cut. And also played snooker for some time.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony,
Muhammad Yousuf said that it was a pleasure to see the various sports facilities in Naya Nazimabad. He said that this snooker club is a beautiful addition to the city. He hopes that big competitions will be held here in the future and new talent will emerge from Naya Nazimabad as well.
Former world champion Muhammad Yousuf, current world champion Muhammad Asif, Chief Executive Officer Samad Habib Habib are inaugurating the Snooker Hall at Naya Nazimabad Gymkhana. President Syed Muhammad Talha is also present on the occasion.
Muhammad Yousuf said that he wants to establish a snooker academy here where he can coach players.
The current world champion Muhammad Asif said that he has become fascinated by Naya Nazimabad and the sports centers here after seeing them for the first time. He said that he would like to participate in snooker matches here too. Muhammad Asif said that the young generation should take full advantage of such facilities.
Chief Executive Officer Naya Nazimabad Abdul Samad Habib said that the dream of Sports City was the vision of his father Arif Habib, which has now come to fruition.
He said that the day is not far when national and international competitions will be held here. He said that Ali Asghar Walika’s role in the popularity of snooker in Pakistan is commendable. Soon, the Asghar Wali Memorial Snooker Tournament will be organized in collaboration with the Pakistan Snooker Federation. He said that he wishes that Pakistan achieves more success in sports.
Addressed by Asian Junior Champion Hasnain Akhtar, former National Champion Asjad Iqbal, President Naya Nazimabad Gymkhana Syed Muhammad Talha and others. Sports Officer District Central Hajra Nawab, Manager Sports Muhammad Asif, Senior Manager Rahil Karim and were also present on the occasion. A beautiful snooker cake was also cut at the end of the ceremony.
