Korangi Association of Trade & Industry Pays Tribute to top Taxpayers of Pakistan

KARACHI – Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) paid tribute to its members included in the 100 top taxpayers of Pakistan in a ceremony held here on Saturday. The event was arranged to honor 2nd in the taxpayers list released by Federal Board of Revenue for year 2018, renowned industrialist and philanthropist Sardar Yasin Malik and other members of KATI included in the ranking.


  • President KATI Danish Khan presenting KATI’s Shield to Sardar Yasin Malik. At the occasion SM Muneer, President of FPCCI Eng. Daro Khan Achakzai, Zubair Chhaya, Dr. Ikhtiar Baig, Siddique Shaikh, Farhan-ur-Rehman, Faraz-ur-Rehman and Maheen Salman are also present.

On this occasion Patron in Chief of KATI SM Muneer applauded the highest taxpaying industrialist and lauded them “Mohsin” of the nation. He said that PM Khan has set an example to appreciate the top taxpayers of the country and this is a great honor for KATI that at least 12 of them belonged to the association. He also urged that nonpaid tax returns should be released as soon as possible. He also showed concern over incidents of harassment of businessmen by tax officials and appealed the PM to take the immediate notice of the situation.

President KATI Danish Khan said that only few lakhs of Pakistanis pay tax, hardly one percent of the total population. He said that until the tax to GDP ratio wouldn’t rise to at least 17 pc economic conditions of country couldn’t be stable. He said that in currently approved economic reforms , a clause which label a filler as non-filler for the whole year if he even delay the return fill just a day from the given deadline. Danish Khan and other industrialist at the occasion dubbed this unjustified and called to remove it as soon as possible.

President of FPCCI Eng. Daro Khan Achakzai also showed his concern over the current behavior of tax regime towards business community and demanded to pass the resolution to condemned any act of harassment of business community. He also lauded the top taxpayers and announced to arrange a ceremony to honor all such people. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Zubair Chhaya, Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, Zubair Tufail, Khalid Tawab and other also paid tribute to the top taxpayers and lauded KATI for arranging such event.

The guest of honor of the ceremony Sardar Yasin Malik told his struggle to get success in business and urged that honesty and hard work is the only key to success.

He said if would pay tax with honesty not only our country would get strengthen along with our businesses would also flourish. Other top taxpayers Arif Akhai, Ibrahim Qasim, Saleem Sultan and Wazir Ali Pardhan also thanked KATI for the acknowledgment. Ibrahim Qasim said that in such manner PM Khan honored us tax paying people I wish our bureaucracy would also follow the footsteps of the premier of the country. In the end of the ceremony souvenirs and flowers presented to the top taxpayer by KATI. SVP Faraz-ur-Rehman, VP Maheen Salman, former President of KATI Gulzar Firoz, Masood Naqi, Zahid Saeed and others were also present at the moment.
