Karachi — The first-ever walking football exhibition match in District Korangi concluded with a thrilling contest, as the Karachi Walking Football Association defeated HRD Sports Academy by 4–2 in an energetic and closely followed match.

The event, reported by Chief Reporter Rehan Akram, marked an important step in promoting walking football in Pakistan, a modified version of football designed to encourage fitness and inclusivity while reducing physical intensity.
The Karachi Walking Football Association was led by Muhammad Akhtar, the first captain of Pakistan’s walking football team, who delivered a standout performance by scoring a hat-trick and finishing as the top scorer of the match. Rashid Ansari was declared the Best Player of the Match for his strong overall contribution.
On the opposing side, HRD Sports Academy was captained by Engineer Abdul Basit, who guided his team competitively and later received the runner-up trophy.
The chief guest of the event, actor Junaid Ahmed, praised the players’ performance and announced cash prizes for participants. He also pledged support for the promotion of walking football across Sindh in collaboration with the Sindh Walking Football Association.
Sindh Walking Football Association General Secretary Muteeba Khan also attended the event and helped distribute trophies and certificates among players.
At the closing ceremony, HRD Sports Academy Director Sports Syed Tariq Shah thanked participants and guests for their support and participation, calling the event a positive step for grassroots sports development.
Officials and guests including District Korangi representatives, sports organizers, referees, and community members attended the match, highlighting growing interest in alternative and inclusive sporting formats in Karachi.
The successful event is being seen as an encouraging development for expanding recreational sports activities in the city and promoting community engagement through fitness-oriented games.
