Islamabad is set to see a major boost in recreational infrastructure as plans for its first-ever theme park, Ferris wheel, and cable car service have been approved by the Departmental Working Party (DWP).
The decision was made in a high-level meeting chaired by Interior Secretary Mohammad Khurram Agha, with Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa and other senior officials present.
The upcoming theme park will include pedestrian-friendly walkways, cycling tracks, and environmentally sustainable features, aiming to enhance Islamabad’s status as a prime destination for tourism and leisure.
Funding has been allocated for feasibility studies and design development: Rs206 million for the theme park, Rs61.8 million for the Ferris wheel, and Rs197.76 million for the cable car project.
With Islamabad’s population surpassing two million and increasing demand for quality public spaces, officials say these projects will not only improve residents’ recreational options but also attract both local and international tourists.
