Hyderabad Chamber Criticises Sindh Policy Bias, Seeks Inclusion

Hyderabad — The Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry has expressed concern over what it termed an “unbalanced” approach to economic policy-making in Sindh, urging authorities to ensure broader representation of the province’s business community.

The Soyem of Munsif Shah, elder brother of President Arts Council Muhammad Ahmed Shah, will be held on Wednesday, April 15th at Masjid-ul-Huda, North Nazimabad.

Chamber President Muhammad Saleem Memon said recent policy decisions have largely focused on Karachi, sidelining key economic centres such as Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, and Shaheed Benazirabad.

Referring to recent consultations at the Chief Minister’s office regarding smart lockdown measures, he said the process lacked inclusivity and failed to incorporate input from business stakeholders across other regions.

Memon also highlighted a lack of engagement between provincial leadership and the Hyderabad business community, noting that repeated invitations for formal meetings have not received a response.

In a letter addressed to President Asif Ali Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, the chamber called for immediate steps to ensure fair and permanent representation of all regional business bodies in economic decision-making forums.

The chamber demanded that representatives from across Sindh, including Hyderabad, be given a formal role in provincial economic and trade advisory committees to make policy-making more inclusive and aligned with ground realities.

Memon stressed that sustainable economic development in Sindh requires balanced policies that reflect the needs of all regions, not just a single metropolitan centre.
