Lahore: All gates to Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore have been locked in preparation for a planned rally by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party on September 21. Police have sealed off the area and set up a strong presence at each entrance to ensure safety and control access.
The PTI is still waiting for official approval to hold the rally, which led them to file a petition in the Lahore High Court. The Deputy Commissioner of Lahore, Syed Musa Raza, is waiting for an intelligence report before making a decision on the rally. The court has ordered that a decision be made by 5:00 PM today.
In a recent statement, PTI founder Imran Khan warned that if permission is denied, the rally could turn into a protest. He stated, “If the rally is stopped, the entire nation will protest at Minar-e-Pakistan.” Khan emphasized that holding rallies is a constitutional right and that blocking this event threatens democracy. The court also dismissed an attempt to stop the rally, affirming the PTI’s right to gather. The situation is still developing as authorities consider their next steps.
