SFP Chairperson Tehmina Asif, renowned sports patron Sabiha Essa and Essa Laboratories CEO Farhan Essa recently met Feryal Gauhar and requested her to become the sport’s ambassador.

Feryal accepted SFP official’s request and added that she has been successful only because of Pakistan, which is her identity.

“If it’s through sports, my country receives recognition due to me then I will be proud of that. Becoming ambassador for Pakistan softball will be an honor for me,” Feryal said.

She said that she had played softball back in her school days and at abroad as well. She added that she had captained her school – Lahore American School for four years while she remained best player in South Asia out of six international schools.

She added that she was happy to know that young girls of the country have been taking keen interest in the sport.

“I wish that women, like in other sports, win laurels for the country and portray soft image of Pakistan in the game of softball as well at the international arena.”

Feryal further said that she would do her best and use her capabilities to justify the responsibility she has now been given.

“My priority will be to give our women more opportunities on equal basis (to that of men). I would also try to uplift softball infrastructure in the country so that players can have good environment to play.”

On the occasion, Tehmina Asif said that inclusion of people like Feryal to softball family will prove to be a milestone for the promotion and progress of softball in the country. She added that Feryal would help promote the game among women and find new talent.
