Educate a Girl Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan initiative powered a new wave of digital empowerment in June 2025 at Fatima Jinnah Women’s College, Skardu, where 217 young women were trained in cutting-edge technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI), ChatGPT, and Content Creation.

Educate a Girl Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan initiative powered a new wave of digital empowerment in June 2025 at Fatima Jinnah Women’s College, Skardu, where 217 young women were trained in cutting-edge technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI), ChatGPT, and Content Creation.

This landmark training focused on equipping girls from Skardu with essential 21st-century digital skills to prepare them for future careers in technology, media, and creative industries. The hands-on sessions helped participants explore how AI tools like ChatGPT are revolutionizing communication, education, business, and storytelling and how they can use these tools to create their own content, launch freelancing careers, and solve real-world problems.

While the core focus remained on AI, ChatGPT, and content creation, participants also benefited from short modules on climate action, sustainability, hospitality, and beauty entrepreneurship, showcasing how diverse fields are being transformed by digital skills.

Expert Trainers Included: Miran Ali Shah – Content Creator and Graphic Designer, delivered key insights into AI-driven design and creative tools, Muhammad Muzammil Iqbal – Content Creation Specialist, led practical training on photography, videography, and digital storytelling, Maria Akbar – Cultural Ambassador and Climate Activist, introduced the link between digital platforms and advocacy, Junaid Ahmad – Lecturer, University of Baltistan, shared the relevance of AI in tourism and hospitality, Dr. Zakir Hussain – Former Director Academics, University of Baltistan, emphasized the academic impact of AI tools like ChatGPT, Maryam Batool – GB’s first Makeup Artist and Master Trainer, shared how digital content is transforming beauty entrepreneurship, Syed Muhammad Agha – Branch Manager, Meezan Bank, spoke on the importance of digital literacy in finance, Majeed Ullah Tarangfa – Geologist and Entrepreneur, highlighted sustainability-focused content creation

Dedicated Educate a Girl team members on the ground who made it possible: Aqeela, Farida Batool, Iffat Ali, and Masuma Ayub played a vital role in facilitating smooth event coordination and supporting learners throughout the day.

The event marked a major step forward in bringing technological literacy to young women in remote areas. By merging innovation with empowerment, Educate a Girl Skardu is creating real opportunities for girls to become digital creators, tech leaders, and changemakers.

This training session for over 217 young women was held at Fatima Jinnah Women College, Skardu, was a truly inspiring experience. “The energy and enthusiasm of the participants were remarkable, and it was heartening to see how eager and motivated they were to learn. Insha’Allah, these young women will continue to grow and achieve great success in their journeys ahead,” said Tara Uzra Dawood, Founder, Educate a Girl and CEO, Dawood Global Foundation LADIESFUND.

“I warmly welcome you all to Fatima Jinnah Women College. I am the Principal of this college, and I am deeply grateful to the Educate a Girl team for coming here and providing scholarships to over 200 girls. This initiative is truly commendable, and Insha’Allah, I hope such impactful sessions will continue to take place in the future as well,” said Manzoor Hussain Naqvi.

I am proud to support this powerful movement that is creating real opportunities for young women across Pakistan,” said Mariya Akbar, Lecturer at University of Baltistan Skardu and “Gender and Climate” specialist.

“It was an honor to teach AI and ChatGPT to over 200 brilliant young women at Educate a Girl in Skardu. Their curiosity, enthusiasm, and drive to learn prove that the future is not only digital it’s female,” said Miran Ali Shah, digital communications specialist and trainer, Dawood Global Foundation.

“It was a privilege to train over 200 young women in Skardu through my session on Eco-Friendly Tourism. We engaged in meaningful discussions on sustainable tourism practices and their impact on the local economy and environment. I am truly thankful to Educate a Girl for giving me this opportunity. I am proud to support this powerful movement that is creating real opportunities for young women across Pakistan,” said Junaid Ahmad.

“It has been very rewarding to conduct a deep dive training session on content creation for over 200 Educate a Girl scholarship girls in Skardu, and facilitating our local girls in world class digital literacy and prowess. I extend my heartfelt thanks to Miss Tara Uzra Dawood and the entire team for bringing the Educate a Girl initiative to Skardu and for their unwavering commitment to empowering women through education and digital skills,” said Muhammad Muzammil Iqbal.

“Thank you to Dawood Global Foundation for my scholarship from the Educate a Girl initiative.  It was a very fruitful course. We had the opportunity to learn a lot. We also listened to the President of Educate a Girl, as well as several trainers who conducted sessions on various topics such as ChatGPT, content creation, as well as professional makeup, and applying digital content to tourism. These trainings were very beneficial, and we hope to apply what we’ve learned and build our futures in these fields. Insha’Allah, we will make the most of this opportunity,” – Nasreen Fatima
