Pakistan : Chief Coordinator Tajir Dost Scheme Naeem Mir stated that a state’s independence is directly linked with its economic independence and the latter cannot be achieved without payment of due taxes. “Due share of taxes need to be paid in order to avoid dictation and live a respectable life along with progressive nations ” expressed Mr Mir in a meeting with a group of traders who have registered themselves through Tajir Dost Scheme.
The Chief Coordinator added that state is like a mother and the mother is in a pathetic state now and is calling for the patriotic traders for taking care of her in these tough times.
While highlighting the gargantuan gap between tax paid by the salaried class and traders he added that as per the statistics of FY ending June 2024 the former paid Rs. 375 billion whereas the latter paid only Rs. 34 billion that is highly disappointing and unacceptable. “If the revenue share of a sector is not proportional to its share in GDP then the tax system cannot be called equitable as the other sectors will have to bear undue burden” concluded.
