Karachi — Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Syed Muhammad Nuhal Hashmi held a meeting with Chairman of the Social Media Protection and Regulatory Authority (SMPRA) Ayaz Shaukat in Karachi on 23 June, where digital governance and online responsibility were discussed as key priorities.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed the evolving challenges of digital governance, including responsible use of social media platforms, public awareness campaigns, and the need for effective regulatory frameworks to ensure a safer online environment.

Officials from the Social Media Protection and Regulatory Authority, including member Sohail Iqbal Surdi, also attended the session. The participants discussed strategies to promote a positive digital narrative and strengthen coordination between institutions.
The Governor said modern policymaking must align with emerging technological needs. He emphasized that providing a safe, constructive and positive digital environment for young people is a shared responsibility among stakeholders.
A joint commitment was agreed upon to continue cooperation and develop future initiatives aimed at improving digital oversight and public awareness. Continued collaboration between relevant institutions was also agreed during the meeting.
