Quetta — A seminar under the National Exporters Training Program (NETP) in Quetta has focused on Balochistan exports and the role of agriculture in economic growth.
The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Quetta, organised the event. It brought together exporters, farmers, academia, and government officials. Development organisations also took part.

TDAP Director Noor Ali Achakzai opened the seminar. He highlighted the importance of export promotion and training under NETP.
Quetta Chamber Senior Vice President Taj Muhammad Barech said Balochistan has strong agricultural and livestock potential. He urged better use of available resources.
PHDEC Assistant Manager Muhammad Abbas Khan presented a briefing on horticulture exports. He pointed out value chain gaps and compliance issues.
Muhammad Idrees and Muhammad Sharif delivered training sessions. They explained export procedures, documentation, financing, and marketing. The Pakistan Single Window system was also introduced by Deputy Manager Rizwan. He explained its role in simplifying export processes.
Participants raised key concerns. These included a lack of slaughterhouses and weak cold storage systems. They also noted the absence of corporate farming and limited real-time data systems.
Despite these challenges, strong demand was reported for apples, chillies, and other crops from Balochistan.
The seminar recommended olive processing plants with a capacity of 2,000 kg per hour. It also proposed a multi-stakeholder committee. More trade exhibitions were also suggested.
The event ended with remarks from Attaullah Mengal. He called for stronger coordination between public and private sectors. Participants agreed that cooperation is essential for improving Balochistan exports.
