Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif told the National Assembly that Pakistan played an active diplomatic role during recent talks between the United States and Iran held on the sidelines of the Burgenstock summit in Switzerland.
Opening his address, the prime minister reflected on developments at the summit and described Pakistan’s participation in efforts aimed at reducing tensions between the two sides.
He said delegations from the United States and Iran held several hours of discussions, while Pakistan and Qatar took part in the dialogue as mediators.

“Pakistan tried its best, with complete sincerity, to close the distance between the two sides,” Shehbaz said during his speech.
According to the prime minister, negotiations that began on Sunday continued late into the night and extended into Monday.
He also expressed hope that the memorandum of understanding signed ahead of the discussions in Switzerland would develop into a lasting agreement.
Sharif said sustained dialogue and diplomatic engagement remained essential to achieving long-term stability and strengthening relations between the parties involved.
The remarks came during his address to lawmakers in the National Assembly, where he highlighted Pakistan’s role in supporting international diplomatic efforts.
