ISLAMABAD – The British Royal couple, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Prince William and Kate Middleton arrived in Islamabad on Monday on a five-day visit to Pakistan.
They were given a warm welcome at the Nur Khan Airbase upon arrival. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi received the royal guests.
Two children clad in traditional dress presented bouquet of flowers to the distinguished guests. The guests thanked them and talked to them for a while.
The royal couple during its visit to Pakistan is scheduled to visit Northern Areas and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa besides capital Islamabad and Lahore.
The duo is scheduled to meet with President and Prime Minister besides attending other engagements.
Meanwhile, Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan has welcomed the British Royal Couple over the arrival in Pakistan saying the visit of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Prince William and Kate Middleton to Pakistan is a reflection of peaceful and safe Pakistan.
In a tweet, she said the visit of the Royal Couple will further stabilize and strengthen the longstanding historical relations between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
Visit of the Royals rekindles fond memories of Lady Diana
Rekindling fond memories of the visit of Lady Diana to Pakistan in 1996, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Prince William and Kate Middleton arrived here Monday to a warm welcome, as the news channels interrupted their regular transmissions to Break the news of the arrival of the royal couple to Pakistan.
Arriving in their RAF’s Voyager A330 aircraft from Brize Norton, a red carpet was rolled out for the royals at the Nur Khan Air Base as Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi warmly received them. Bouquets were presented to the Duke and the Duchess by two children attired in traditional Pakistani dress. The Duchess shook hands with the little girl and thanked her for the beautiful flowers.
A contingent of the smartly turned out President’s bodyguards was at the airport to receive the royal guests.
