Balochistan Operations: Security Forces Kill 15 Terrorists in Intelligence-Based Raids

Security forces have killed 15 terrorists in a series of intelligence-based operations across Balochistan, state media reported on Sunday, as authorities intensify efforts to dismantle militant networks operating in the province.
According to state-run Pakistan Television, the operations were conducted under Operation Raddul Fitna 3 in Mastung, Bolan, Washuk, Awaran, Sibi, Khuzdar, Harnai and Nushki. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the militants killed during the operations, the report said.
Pakistan Television said the raids dealt a significant blow to the militant network and restricted the movement of its members across several areas.
The government uses the term “Khawarij” when referring to terrorists, particularly in official statements concerning militant groups.
The latest operations come as Balochistan continues to experience serious security challenges, with violence and militant activity increasing sharply in recent months.
A monthly security assessment released by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) on July 31 reported a substantial deterioration in the province’s security situation during July.

According to the assessment, the overall number of deaths recorded in Balochistan rose by 241 per cent, increasing from 109 in June to 372 in July. The report attributed the increase to a sharp rise in deaths among security personnel, militants and civilians.
Deaths among security personnel increased from six in June to 62 in July, representing a rise of 933 per cent. The number of reported militant deaths also increased from 75 to 238, while civilian fatalities rose by 93 per cent, from 28 to 54.
The assessment further said that 18 members of peace committees were killed in the province during the month.
The heightened security operations follow a series of deadly attacks in Balochistan. Last month, security and law-enforcement agencies launched Operation Shaban following an attack on a police post at the Mangi Dam pumping station in Ziarat on July 6.
During that assault, armed attackers kidnapped and killed 27 police officers, adding to concerns over the ability of militant groups to target security installations in the province.
The violence prompted renewed calls from Pakistan’s political and military leadership for a coordinated response to terrorism.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on July 9 that the country’s civil and military leadership had reached a “mutual and singular decision” to eliminate terrorism.
He made the remarks during a meeting of the Provincial Apex Committee on the National Action Plan in Quetta. Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir was also present at the meeting.
The latest intelligence-based operations indicate that security forces are continuing to target militant networks through raids aimed at disrupting their organisational structures, restricting movement and recovering weapons.
With violence continuing to pose a major challenge in Balochistan, authorities are expected to maintain security operations across the province while attempting to prevent further attacks on civilians and security personnel.
