Popular TikTok star and model Areeka Haq has made a bold statement, claiming that some female influencers are intentionally leaking their own obscene videos to regain fame and attract media attention.
Speaking during a candid interview on the talk show Nukta, Areeka shared her experiences in the digital spotlight and the pressure that comes with it. She revealed that she began her content creation journey during a gap year after matriculation, initially posting on Musically, the app that later evolved into TikTok.
Areeka opened up about the mental toll of online criticism, particularly following her appearance in a music video with singer Asim Azhar, which triggered intense backlash. Even after joining university, she continued to face personal and online scrutiny.
Highlighting the toxic side of fame, she said many people treat influencers like “public property,” giving themselves permission to hurl insults and make harsh judgments.
In one of the most attention-grabbing parts of the interview, Areeka alleged that some female TikTokers have started leaking their own inappropriate videos as a strategy to regain relevance. She explained that after the trend of couple-content faded, some women found themselves losing influence—prompting them to resort to controversial tactics.
“At first, I thought these girls were victims,” she said, “but now I believe some are doing it themselves.”
With over 12 million followers on TikTok and 4.2 million on Instagram, Areeka’s remarks have sparked debate across social media, drawing attention to the darker dynamics of online fame and the lengths some may go for viral visibility.
