Khairpur – The Institute of International Relations (I.R), Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur organized a dialogue on the topic “Iran-Saudi Rapprochement: Future of Middle East”. The program was organized by Student Society of International Relations and presided by Prof. Dr. Amir Ahmed Khuhro, Director Institute of I.R.
While talking in the dialogue, Prof. Dr. Amir Ahmed Khuhro highlighted the significance of the Iran-Saudi Rapprochement: Future of Middle East with reference to regional and global politics. Dr. Khuhro said on 10th March, Saudi Arabia and Iran agreed to revive and restore their diplomatic relations in collaboration with Chinese initiatives and efforts in order to reduce the hostile and tense relations across the Middle East and bring them closer to foster the peace, tranquility, economic cooperation and trade. He said that friendly engagements may also help lessen tensions in the Gulf region. Dr. Khuhro applauded the patronage of the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto in the promotion of academic as well as co-curricular activities at the campus.
Mr. Ishrat Ali Mirani, Assistant Professor elaborated the objective of the dialogue. He traced out the traditional deadlock emerged between the two powers. He said this understanding and engagement will provide peace and development in the Middle-East.
Dr. Siraj Ahmed Soomro, Chairman Department of Pakistan Studies,, Mr. Aijaz Ahmed Shaikh, Dr. Zaheer Ahmed Soomro, Dr. Muhammad Ramzan Kolachi, Mr. Sooriyah Suhag and others attended the dialogue. Mr. Ali Rashid was the moderator of Program while Mr. Abdul Razzak, Mr. Abdul Basit and Mr. Imran Mahar were the Panelists.
