Karachi: Prof. Dr. Wasim Qazi, Vice Chancellor Iqra University, and Dr. Mohsen Moradi, President Islamic Azad University, Mashhad and Rizvi-e-Khorasan province, signed MOU to expand its network of international collaboration.
Speaking on the occasion, Consul General Iran, Mr. Hassan Nourian wished to promote multifold relation between the countries through such collaborations. The MoU, he went on to say, will enable the students and faculty to explore vast opportunities in higher education, and research initiatives. It is hoped that this partnership will accelerate scientific ties and research initiatives at Iqra University and Azad Islamic University. Furthermore, this collaboration could help both universities moving up the global ranking ladder of international universities.
Prof. Dr. Wasim Qazi, on the occasion, said that in addition to exchange of our students and faculty, we aspire to exchange the expertise and knowledge in various sectors. The collaboration will also provide opportunities for joint research and development projects, which will benefit both institutions and their respective countries. He went on saying that such partnership will give a boost to education in both regions.
Dr. Jalal Dorakhshah, Vice-Chancellor for International Affairs and Foreign students, Islamic Azad University, Islamic Republic of Iran, said that Islamic Azad University is the third largest private university system in the world, which currently has enrollment of more than 1.2 million local students and 60,000 international students. The university has an outstanding reputation in the region with its 350 branches scattered across the country and various campuses around the globe with 10 research institutes in Iran and five out of Iran.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Masoud Akbarizadeh, Vice Chancellor of Islamic Azad University of Sistan and Baluchistan Province, Mr. Said Talebi Niya, Cultural Attache, Dr. Ali Soroorimajd, Consultant and Chief of Islamic Azad University Presidential Center, Public Relations, and Provincial coordination, Mr. Muhammad Rahimi, Visa Consul, and various other high-profile officials.
At the end of the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of Iqra University, Dr. Wasim Qazi, along with the Consul General of Iran and the delegation of Islamic Azad University, visited the latest facilities and departments, Business Incubation Centre, Sports Complex, Health Sciences building and Central Library of Iqra University and they were given the briefing on the latest equipment and technology used there. Later, the delegation also visited the North Campus of Iqra University.
