These were the words of Dr. Adil Haider, Dean of Medical College Aga Khan University (AKU), as he did an inspiring presentation with success stories of American Dream manifestation in Pakistan at AKU.
This was at an enlightening event held at Aga’s Restaurant in Houston, Texas, USA; titled: “Serving Pakistan and Encouraging Excellence in Healthcare – The Impact of Aga Khan University.”
Dr. Adil Haider presented two stories of persons with modest background, who were able to achieve their dreams through AKU, and there are many others.
Dr. Haider himself went from USA to Pakistan being very successful here in the US; and now much satisfied about his move back to Pakistan at AKU.
Other distinguished speakers of the evening included Keynote Speaker Dr. Shahid Shafi, CEO of AKU Hospital; Chief Guest Honorable Consul General of Pakistan Mr. Abrar H. Hashmi; Dr. Rozina Karmaliani, Dean, School of Nursing and Midwifery, AKU Hospital, and Emcee of the event was Dr. Navroz Surani, Director of Resource Development.
Dr. Shahid Shafi, CEO of AKU Hospital informed that since His Highness’ the Agha Khan founded Pakistan’s first Private University, AKU has invested every year since 2015 more than $1 billion in Pakistan, creating more than 54,000 jobs.
AKU has been original in many initiatives, like 1st hospital in Pakistan to be accredited by the US-based Joint Commission International; 1st to offer Post-RM Bachelor of Science in Midwifery; 1st to offer Master of Science in Nursing; 1st Center accredited by the US-based Society for Simulation in Healthcare; and much more making AKU truly a National Asset of Pakistan providing much Public Benefits.
