Chinese soldiers beat up Indian troops with ‘sticks’ at Ladakh border

WEB DESK – During a recent face-off with the Indian forces in the Pangong Tso lake area in eastern Ladakh, the Chinese Army troops reportedly beat up Indian soldiers with sticks, clubs with barbed wires and stones.

“The Chinese troops were armed with stones and barbed wire clubs to target Indian soldiers in the area near the Pangong Tso lake during a recent face-off,” India Today quoted sources as saying.

“During the face-off, they [Chinese soldiers] attacked our soldiers with barbed wire clubs to cause them injuries but the Indian side retaliated in equal measure despite being outnumbered,” it reported.

According to ThePrint, Chinese troops have “come in” about 3 km into Indian territory South East of the Galwan Valley, largely known as Hot Springs area in eastern Ladakh.

It reported that Beijing has also moved in men at the “finger areas” of Pangong Lake while increasing build up on its side of the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The Pangong Lake’s northern bank juts forward like a palm, and the various protrusions are identified as “fingers” to demarcate territory.

According to the outlet, contrary to inputs of a large Chinese troop presence at Galwan Valley, the build-up is within the Chinese Claim Line (CCL), which is also considered as the LAC at local level.

Sources say that in Galwan, the CCL and the LAC are the same though no maps have been exchanged. They said that the understanding is at local level and Chinese objections to construction activities well within Indian territory was a surprise. India has done “mirror deployment” on its side, in that it has matched every Chinese move.

Amid growing tension along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) after a face-off earlier this month in Ladakh and Sikkim sectors, China reportedly moved 5,000 soldiers on its side of the disputed border. To strengthen its position, the Indian forces used heavy-lift transport aircraft to move troops in the eastern Ladakh sector.
