Adil Salahuddin: Standard Chartered Appoints New Pakistan CEO

Adil Salahuddin has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Pakistan.

Adil Salahuddin has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer and Head of Coverage for Standard Chartered Pakistan, subject to regulatory and statutory approvals, as the bank strengthens its leadership team and reaffirms its long-term commitment to the Pakistani market.

The announcement was made by Standard Chartered on Monday, with the bank describing Pakistan as one of its longest-established and strategically important markets. The appointment reflects the institution’s confidence in the country’s long-term economic potential and its focus on supporting clients through an expanding international network.

Rola Abu Manneh, Chief Executive Officer for UAE, Middle East and Pakistan at Standard Chartered, said Pakistan remains a key market for the bank, supported by deep client relationships, a strong local presence and global connectivity.

She said Adil Salahuddin brings an extensive understanding of the bank’s clients, operations and regional markets, backed by a proven leadership record across Pakistan and the Middle East.

Abu Manneh added that Standard Chartered’s international network continues to provide clients with access to global trade, investment and capital opportunities. She expressed confidence that Salahuddin’s leadership will strengthen client relationships and help support Pakistan’s economic growth.

Salahuddin has more than 30 years of banking experience, including 25 years with Standard Chartered. During his career, he has held senior leadership positions across Markets and Coverage in Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

He previously served as Head of Markets in Pakistan for five years before relocating to Dubai in April 2021 to oversee Corporate Sales across the Middle East, Pakistan and Africa. Over the past four months, he has led the bank’s Coverage business in Pakistan.

Standard Chartered has operated in Pakistan since 1863, making it the country’s oldest and largest international bank. The institution serves Corporate and Institutional Banking clients alongside Wealth and Retail Banking customers, offering a broad range of financial products and Islamic banking services under its Saadiq brand.
