Muhammad Abbas and Hareem Anwar delivered standout performances to emerge as champions of the Karachi Table Tennis Championship, held at the Sindh Sports Board Complex in Nazimabad.

In the men’s singles final, Muhammad Abbas defeated Arham Bin Farukh 3–1 in a commanding display. Abbas controlled the match from the outset, taking the first two sets 11–7 and 11–9, dropping the third 7–11, before sealing victory with a confident 11–4 win in the fourth set.
In the women’s singles final, Hareem Anwar secured the title after overcoming Sarah Danish 3–1. Hareem dominated the opening sets 11–3 and 11–9, briefly slipped in the third set 7–11, but responded strongly to close out the match 11–1 in the fourth.
The men’s doubles final produced one of the most competitive matches of the tournament, with Aahil Tharani and Muhammad Saim edging past Arham Bin Farukh and Hussain Virani in a five-set thriller. The winners prevailed 6–11, 11–3, 11–5, 9–11, and 11–6.
In the mixed doubles category, Hareem Anwar partnered with Salman Raza to claim another title, defeating Fatima and Muhammad Abbas 3–1 with scores of 6–11, 11–7, 11–9, and 11–9.
Team events were dominated by Islamia Club, which secured victories in both men’s and women’s categories. In the women’s team final, Islamia Club narrowly defeated Sindh Sports Board Club 3–2, while in the men’s final they overcame Ali Shan Club with the same 3–2 scoreline in a closely contested match.
The championship was organized by Ali Shan Table Tennis Club under the supervision of the Sindh Sports Board. The closing ceremony was attended by Additional Collector Pakistan Customs Ali Raza Sipra, who served as chief guest and distributed trophies, medals, and cash prizes worth over PKR 300,000 among winners.
Prize money distribution included PKR 20,000 for men’s and women’s singles champions, PKR 15,000 for runners-up, and additional awards across doubles, mixed doubles, veterans, and Under-19 categories.
A special Lifetime Achievement Award, along with PKR 100,000, was presented to Nazo Shakoor in recognition of her long-standing contribution to table tennis development in Pakistan.
Officials from the Sindh Table Tennis Association, including Secretary Mohsin Raza and President Fareed Alam, attended the event alongside other dignitaries.
The tournament concluded on a high note, highlighting rising talent in Karachi’s table tennis circuit and strong participation across all categories.
