The event brought together members of the Thai community, Pakistani business partners, diplomats, and distinguished guests to experience one of Thailand’s most cherished cultural traditions. Songkran, celebrated as the Thai New Year, symbolizes renewal, purification, and new beginnings.

The Consul-General of Thailand in Karachi, Surashete Boontinand, along with consulate officials, led the celebrations. In his remarks, he highlighted the deeper meaning of Songkran beyond water festivities, emphasizing family unity, respect for elders, and spiritual renewal.

A key highlight of the event was the traditional water-pouring ceremony, where guests respectfully poured scented water over the hands of elders as a gesture of blessing and goodwill for the new year. The ceremony reflected Thai cultural values of gratitude and respect.

The celebration also featured traditional Thai dance and musical performances showcasing the elegance of Thai heritage. Guests participated in cultural games, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere that strengthened cultural exchange between Thailand and Pakistan.

Held at a decorated poolside venue in Karachi, the event provided a colorful backdrop for diplomatic and cultural interaction. Organizers said the celebration aims to promote people-to-people connections and deepen mutual understanding between the two countries.

The evening concluded with a Thai cuisine dinner, featuring popular dishes and beverages, including Thai milk tea, leaving guests with a memorable experience of Thai hospitality and cultural warmth.
