Jamshoro, April 8, 2026: Shaheed Allah Buksh Soomro (SABS) University of Art, Design and Heritages, Jamshoro, organized an awareness seminar on “Drug Abuse Prevention and Delinquency Control” as part of its Counter Narcotics Campaign. The event was jointly hosted by the university’s Anti-Drugs & Tobacco Committee and Extra-Curricular Activities Committee, in collaboration with the Pakistan Anti-Narcotics Force (PS ANF) Hyderabad and the Ministry of Interior & Narcotics Control.

The seminar aimed to raise awareness among students and faculty about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of collaborative efforts to prevent narcotics use in society. Lectures were delivered by PS ANF Hyderabad DDR Team Leader SI Sher Muhammad, Dr. Shehryar Ahmed, Fazal Ellahi Khan, Convener of the Anti-Drugs Committee at SABS University, and Kashif Shahzad, Incharge of Extra-Curricular Activities.
SI Sher Muhammad emphasized that drug abuse poses a serious threat, particularly to youth, and highlighted the need for awareness, early prevention, and strong collaboration between educational institutions and law enforcement agencies.
Dr. Shehryar Ahmed discussed the psychological, social, and health consequences of substance abuse, noting its detrimental impact on individuals, families, and communities. He stressed the importance of counseling, education, and engaging students in positive academic and creative activities to prevent delinquent behavior.
Fazal Ellahi Khan urged universities to take an active role in promoting awareness and resilience among students, emphasizing that continuous campaigns and seminars are essential for creating a safe and healthy academic environment.
The seminar concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where faculty and students engaged directly with speakers to discuss strategies for preventing drug abuse and promoting youth awareness.
