The casualties were reported across the city in cases of electrocution and building wall collapses. Victims included Abdul Wali (30) in PIB Colony, Shahabuddin (35) in Site Superhighway, Sartaj (23) in Surjani Town, and 12-year-old Dua Batool in Surjani Town, among others.

In a separate incident, a rickshaw driver, Irshad Ali (50), was killed when a two-storey building wall collapsed in Old Golimar. Additionally, three children were injured in a wall collapse in Orangi Town.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Nazimabad recorded the highest rainfall at 69.6mm, followed by Kemari (56mm), University Road (44.2mm), and other areas. A new westerly weather system is expected to bring intermittent showers and thunderstorms in Karachi and parts of Sindh until April 4.

City authorities and emergency response:
Commissioner Karachi, Syed Hassan Naqvi, confirmed that emergency camps were set up across all districts, with dewatering operations underway. Karachi Traffic Police issued advisories and established diversion points to manage traffic congestion caused by waterlogging.

Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab directed municipal teams to remain on high alert. Over 50 choking points were cleared in the past two weeks, and rapid response teams were deployed at key drains and road links.

The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) and Rescue 1122 are actively monitoring dangerous structures and unsafe areas, with citizens advised to stay away from weak walls, electric poles, and waterlogged streets.

Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon urged residents to exercise caution, follow official instructions, and contact emergency services in case of need, emphasizing the government’s responsibility for public safety during adverse weather.
