CHINA : Located in China’s southeastern Fujian province, Guoqi Cliff Coffee may be the most dangerous cafe in the world. This unique cafe, called Guoqi Cliff Coffee, offers its customers the opportunity to sit and drink coffee on a high cliff, about 60 meters above the roaring waves. Having a cup of coffee while enjoying a breathtaking view should normally be a relaxing experience, but it won’t be easy to keep yourself completely calm at Cliff Coffee in Fujian Province. Perched on a sheer cliff face nearly 60 meters above sea level, the cafe proudly bills itself as the world’s most extreme cafe. Goshi Calf Coffee basically consists of rectangular platforms fixed to the rock with nuts and bolts, which are used as seating for customers. To reach the cafe, tourists first have to traverse a via ferrata trail for about 30 minutes, after which they are lowered by rope to the platforms below under the supervision of an instructor. The cliffside cafe, established since 2004, recently went viral when several videos taken at this picturesque location began circulating on social media. Given the extraordinary interest from tourists, the founder of Cliff Coffee emphasized that advance reservations are mandatory and people cannot descend to the platforms by rope without staff supervision. A cup of coffee here costs 398 yuan ($58), which is more than the price of premium coffee. However, the cafe owner explained that this price includes mandatory insurance, professional equipment rental and the fees for the instructors who take you down. Moreover, there is no time limit for sitting there. Once you reach the platforms, you can stay there as long as you want.
