INDIA : A surgeon from the Indian city of Bengaluru is facing charges for the murder of his doctor wife, whom he allegedly killed by giving her an overdose of anesthesia. According to the Times of India newspaper, the alleged murder took place in April this year, while the police arrested the accused two days ago, Tuesday, after receiving the forensic report. The forensic report clearly shows that the 24-year-old wife Krithika Reddy died from anesthesia, the presence of which has also been confirmed in the body. Dr. Mahendra Reddy, 31, works as a surgeon at the Gastroenterology and Organ Transplant Institute at Victoria Hospital, while his wife Kritika was a dermatologist. Dr. Mahendra has been accused of murdering his 28-year-old wife Krithika Reddy, whom he married in March last year. City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh, while arresting the accused, said that the forensic report confirmed the presence of propofol anesthesia, which is actually administered to render the patient unconscious before surgery. Police say that a case of unnatural death was registered after Krithika Reddy’s death, but after the forensic report, the victim’s father has filed a new case in which “the son-in-law has been accused of administering an overdose of anesthesia and murder.” Mahendra Reddy had brought his wife Kritika to Kaveri Hospital on April 24 and said that she was at home when she collapsed unconscious. However, upon arrival at the hospital, doctors declared Kritika dead. The hospital issued a death certificate, after which an autopsy was required, although Mahendra tried hard to prevent the hospital administration from doing so. Police sources say that Kritika’s husband was very worried due to her prolonged illness, and this may have been the reason for the murder.
