Pakistan: Arshad Nadeem, who secured Pakistan’s first Olympic gold medal in javelin throw since 1984, is basking in a wave of recognition and rewards. His achievements have earned him around 280 million Pakistani Rupees, several cars, and recently, an additional two million Rupees in cash and a car from the Governor of Punjab.
Despite these generous accolades, Nadeem remains focused on improving sports infrastructure. He has emphasized the need for modern facilities for female athletes and the establishment of a university for women in his hometown, Mian Channu, stressing the importance of better support for emerging athletes.
In a recent ARY News interview, Nadeem and his wife, Rashida, shared a light-hearted moment about a buffalo gift from her father. Although appreciative, Nadeem humorously wished he had received land instead.
Rashida revealed her anxiety before the Games, admitting she couldn’t sleep for three days due to worry and hope for her husband’s success. Meanwhile, Coach Salman Butt announced that Nadeem will resume training in a month, aiming to maintain his top position amid fierce global competition.
