Karachi (30th May 2024) – Rising inflation has made it increasingly difficult for poor people to live. The government must control inflation so that the poor and middle-class people can easily afford two meals a day spoke to the media by Hanif Gohar.

Leadership’s Views on Economic Solutions by Gohar

Muhammad Hanif Gohar, Former Senior Vice President of FPCCI, Secretary General (Sindh Region) of UBG, and Chairman of Gohar Group of Companies, expressed these views. He spoke to the media during a visit of the Council of Economic and Energy Journalists (CEEJ) delegation to Hazara University, Al-Mustafa Medical Center, and SOS Village in Mansehra. Prof. Dr. Mohsin Nawaz, Vice-Chancellor of Hazara University, was also present.

Economic Struggles and Sector Crises by Gohar

Pakistan’s economy is struggling, with growth becoming a distant dream. The construction sector faces severe impacts, with unnecessary taxes shutting down the industry and related sectors facing a crisis. In contrast, India’s total reserves have reached nearly $670 billion, and Bangladesh’s economy is now one of the strongest in the world. These conditions necessitate that the government, in consultation with the private sector, particularly the FPCCI and the United Business Group, should reduce the interest rate to save the economy from disaster.

Call for Political Unity and Action

Hanif Gohar emphasized that politicians and the current government must unite to control inflation and strengthen the country’s economy. He stressed that providing basic necessities, such as food and education for children, should be a priority. Politicians in the Senate of Pakistan, as well as in the national and provincial assemblies, have been elected by the votes of the poor and should therefore respect the dignity of the people.

Support for SOS Children’s Village

During his visit to the SOS Children’s Village, Gohar highlighted that this school provides comprehensive facilities for destitute children. Currently, 150 children, including girls, receive education in 16 houses. He assured that these children would not be left helpless until they complete their education. Graduates from the school have gone on to become doctors, lawyers, and members of Pakistan’s armed forces. Some have even become Air Force pilots. The Women’s Medical College has reserved a quota for the admission of girls from this school. Former Governor Lt. Gen. Fazal Haq inaugurated Ki Basti Dhodial in 1982.
