Zach Bryan Wears ‘Free Palestine’ Shirt at Gillette Stadium

Country music star Zach Bryan drew attention during his performance at Gillette Stadium after appearing on stage in a black shirt featuring the words “Free Palestine.”
Bryan performed at the Foxborough, Massachusetts, venue on Friday, October 2, as part of his With Heaven On Tour. His choice of clothing quickly attracted attention because the stadium is owned by the Kraft Group, led by New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft.
The timing also came weeks after a dispute involving rapper Macklemore, who was removed from the remaining US dates of Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour following his pro-Palestinian remarks during performances.
Shirt Draws Attention After Macklemore Dispute
Macklemore had called for “Free Palestine” during a September performance at MetLife Stadium while introducing his song “Hind’s Hall.”
Robert Kraft later confirmed that Macklemore would not perform at Gillette Stadium during Sheeran’s scheduled September 25 and 26 concerts. Kraft cited what he described as Macklemore’s recent actions and a broader history of antisemitic rhetoric and imagery. He said the material was offensive and hurtful to the Jewish community.

Kraft also said his decision was not intended to deny anyone the right to advocate for Palestinians and acknowledged Palestinian suffering.
Sheeran’s two Gillette Stadium concerts were later canceled because of severe weather linked to a nor’easter. Macklemore was subsequently removed from the remaining US dates of the tour.
Bryan Makes No Public Statement About Dispute
Bryan did not publicly explain the shirt during Friday’s performance.
Several members of his band also appeared to wear clothing featuring Palestinian references. Bryan is scheduled to return to Gillette Stadium for a second performance on Saturday.
The shirt’s appearance has therefore attracted particular attention because of the venue’s recent controversy. However, neither Bryan nor Kraft has announced any direct connection between Bryan’s clothing and the earlier dispute.
The full shirt also featured the words “An Appeal to Heaven” and a pine tree design. The phrase has historical roots in the American Revolutionary era.
Macklemore Launches Free Palestine Tour
Following his removal from Sheeran’s tour, Macklemore announced a separate Free Palestine Tour.
The first announced shows in Dublin, Paris and London sold out quickly. Macklemore said proceeds would support organisations assisting Palestinians.
The controversy has renewed debate over political expression by musicians and the boundaries venues and promoters set for performers.
Bryan’s appearance at Gillette has added another high-profile moment to that discussion, although his precise intention behind the shirt remains open to interpretation.
