Will continue to cooperate with disabled cricket: Shahid Khan Afridi

KARACHI – After a two-year hiatus in Pakistan, physical disability cricket activities are welcome. Players from all over Pakistan are participating in the National T20 Cricket Championship with traditional enthusiasm, Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Association said. Cooperation with the PDCA will continue as before, for many years the PDCA has been providing opportunities for healthy activities for physically disabled cricketers which is commendable. Younis Alam, Communications Officer, International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Aizaz-ur-Rehman, Operational Communications Officer, Rizwan Ahmed, COO, Shahid Afridi Foundation, Secretary, Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Association Uddin Ansari, and Tournament Secretary Jamil Kamran addressed a press conference of ICRC Presents 7th SAF Physically Disabled National T20 Cricket Championship at Karachi Press Club on Tuesday.

At the press conference, the head of Shahid Afridi Foundation and Pakistan’s superstar cricketer Shahid Afridi’s message regarding the 7th National Disabled T20 Cricket Championship was read out by Shahid Afridi Foundation representative Abdul Qadir in which Shahid Afridi said: My Foundation is with the Pakistan Disability Cricket Association step by step. The Shahid Afridi Foundation has supported Disabled Cricket before, not only for this event but also for every good and positive cause. Stands with DCA.

He also expressed his best wishes for the successful organization of the 7th National Disabled T20 Cricket Championship across Pakistan and encouraged the participating players. Addressing the press conference and answering media questions, ICRC Communications Officer Younis Alam added that the ICRC hopes that all the cricketers participating in the event will forget their disability, and Once again we will show our full potential and play competitive cricket. Cricket has not been disabled for the last two years due to the epidemic of covid 19 and now that the national event is taking place, I think the cricketers have the best opportunity to focus on their physical recovery through sports and Make better than before The ICRC has been working since 2014 to provide opportunities for physically challenged persons and athletes to engage in healthy activities and to provide the best possible facilities to the players.

With more confidence than ever before and they will be able to assert themselves in the community, the ICRC hopes that the event will also send a message to other organizations that they too are involved in the physical rehabilitation of the physically challenged. And do your part for healthy activities for them. Tournament Secretary Jamil Kamran while giving details of the National Disability T20 Cricket Championship said that this permanent event of PDCA was delayed for the last two years due to Quad 19 but this time the National Championship was finalized in five cities of the country. I am being organized under a new format. The first phase matches are being played in Karachi. In this phase, Karachi, Hyderabad, Quetta, and Quetta are participating in Bolan KT. The remaining matches will be played in Multan, Lahore, KP, and Islamabad.

The first semi-final of the national championship will be played in Islamabad and the second in Karachi while the final is scheduled for December 3 on the occasion of World Disabled Day. She will defend her title for the third time in a row. PDCA Secretary and Tournament Director Amiruddin Ansari said that the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Shahid Afridi Foundation as well as the Pakistan Cricket Board have extended their full support for the 8th National Disabled T20 Cricket Championship. , For which we are grateful to these institutions.
