Renowned Pakistani television actress Ayesha Khan was discovered dead in her apartment located in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 7, Karachi, according to media reports on Friday.

Police officials revealed that her body was found nearly a week after her passing, raising concerns about her isolated lifestyle and deteriorating health. Ayesha, aged 76, had been living alone for several years and had withdrawn from the public eye.

She was the elder sister of the late legendary actress Khalida Riyasat and was born on November 22, 1948. Her body has been shifted to Jinnah Hospital for postmortem, while police have initiated inquiries with her neighbors and relatives to assist in the investigation.

Ayesha Khan was a prominent figure in Pakistan’s entertainment industry, particularly known for her unforgettable performances on PTV. Her notable work includes dramas like Akhri Chattan, Tipu Sultan: The Tiger Lord, Dehleez, Daraarein, Bol Meri Machli, Saibaan, and Ek Aur Aasman, which earned acclaim both locally and across the border.

She was admired for her ability to portray both comedic and serious characters and frequently starred alongside legends such as Qazi Wajid and Talat Hussain, creating some of PTV’s most iconic on-screen duos.

In addition to her television career, Ayesha Khan also had roles in a few films, including Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, Muskaan, and Fatima.

Her sister, Khalida Riyasat, who passed away in 1996, was also a towering figure in Pakistani television, remembered for performances in Aik Muhabbat Sou Afsane, Ankahi, Tabeer, and Nasheman.

Ayesha Khan’s passing signifies the loss of a treasured artist and marks the close of a remarkable chapter in Pakistani television history.
