WASHINGTON D.C – The US special envoy for reconciliation in Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad is set to lead a large delegation on a six-nation tour to boost peace process in the war-torn country and bring all Afghan parties together in an intra-Afghan dialogue.

In a statement, the US State Department said the delegation will visit Belgium, Germany, Turkey, Qatar, Afghanistan and Pakistan from 10th to 28th of this month.

The statement said Khalilzad would consult with Afghan government throughout the trip.

The US envoy has in recent months met several times with Taliban officials in Qatar.

Earlier, Khalilzad said he hopes to see a peace deal in place before presidential elections in Afghanistan in July this year.
