U.S. State Department extends its felicitation to President of Pakistan

Washington D.C.: U.S. State Department released a statement of felicitation  about  new President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi. It explicitly said “United States and the American people congratulate Dr. Arif Alvi on his swearing in as the new President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan”.

Further, U.S. State Department added that the United States looks toward working with Pakistan to advance their shared interests, such as regional peace, stability, and prosperity.

However, no explicit words of terrorism and peace talks with Taliban were used in the press statement issued by Heather Nauert, Spokesperson of the U.S. State Department.

One interesting thing to note was that Prime Minister Imran Khan was not issued an immediate felicitation after his oath taking ceremony – whereas, President of Pakistan was given a prompt welcome by the U.S. State Department.
