Trump Warns Iran of Severe Consequences Over Hormuz Tensions, Urges South Korea to Join ‘Project Freedom’

US President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to Iran during an interview with Fox News, saying the country would face devastating consequences if American vessels were attacked in the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump emphasized the strength and readiness of US military forces, stating that the United States possesses advanced weaponry and maintains well-equipped bases around the world. He asserted that these capabilities would be fully deployed if necessary to protect US interests and ensure maritime security.

The president also claimed that US forces had already taken action in the region, saying seven small “fast boats” had been shot down, though no further operational details were immediately provided.

Amid rising tensions, Trump called on South Korea to join the US-led maritime initiative, referred to as “Project Freedom,” aimed at escorting commercial vessels through the strategically vital waterway.

In a statement posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump alleged that Iranian forces had targeted vessels from other nations, including a South Korean cargo ship. He suggested that Seoul should participate in the mission to safeguard global trade routes.

The developments come as geopolitical tensions intensify in the Gulf region, with the Strait of Hormuz remaining a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments and international commerce.

Analysts warn that any escalation in the area could have far-reaching implications for global energy markets and regional stability.
