Tough import laws and duties will lead to block the import of essential goods to Pakistan.

Karachi – Former Minister Muhammad Noman Saigal has closely observed the effect of the import of the essential goods to Pakistan.

The government should promote the exports on priority and also work out a strategy to manufacture essential goods in the country. No relief is given to the manufacturers or whole sellers to stabilize the national market. The electricity is at the verge of highest buying cost we lack gas with highest price hick in fuel due to which the labourwageshave  gone up. Considering all the major aspects required to produce the local items can’t manage the competitive price and this doesn’t make it economical for the masses. On the other hand the duties on import with the bank restriction has closed all the doors of imports not in luxury but on essential items including eatables, medicine etc.

This has affected the supply chain of various products into the country. As the transportation has gone tremendously high due to the fuel charges and on the other hand the imported chemicals and essential items needed in cultivation are not available. This has reduced the cultivation of various products in the country. For the next fiscal year the govt should reduce the duties as well as relax the banking sector for the businessman including importers to open L/Cs and allow a smooth flow of import transactions.

Taking the example of Dubai which has become a giant trader in the world from a desert, due to the positive policies of the govt sector. Strict rules are applicable but flexibletrade policies have taken the country high in the sky from scratch. All the neighboring countries around Pakistan have grown extensively due to keeping a pace with the region and offcourse with the world.

Pakistan is a country of tremendous scope to trade with the world but unfortunately negative impact and tough laws have ruined the trading in the country. It’s never too late to reconsider the mistakes and revive the good andfavourable policies in the interest of the country, a trade Giant like Dubai etc.
