Mohsin Naqvi Pledges Stronger Protection for Businesses Amid Security Challenges

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has assured traders and industrialists from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan that the federal government will use all available resources to address their concerns and strengthen security measures to protect businesses operating in the two provinces.

The assurance came during a meeting with a delegation representing chambers of commerce from KP and Balochistan. According to the Interior Ministry, business leaders highlighted the security situation in their regions and outlined the challenges affecting trade, investment and economic activity.

After more than 100 words, Mohsin Naqvi told the delegation that the government remained fully committed to supporting the business community. He said he would soon visit Peshawar and Quetta to hold detailed discussions with traders, industrialists and senior government officials to develop practical and long-term solutions to the issues facing the private sector.

Naqvi stressed that the private sector is essential to Pakistan’s economic stability and growth, adding that the country’s progress depends on the success of its business community. He reiterated the government’s commitment to resolving all legitimate concerns raised by traders and industrialists.

The meeting took place against the backdrop of heightened security challenges in KP and Balochistan, where authorities have intensified counterterrorism operations following a series of deadly militant attacks.

Security forces recently launched Operation Shaban in Balochistan after gunmen attacked a police post at the Mangi Dam pumping station in Ziarat, kidnapping and killing 27 police officers. Authorities later initiated Operation Al-Azm following an attack on a Karachi-bound passenger coach that left three people dead and five others injured.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, militants attacked the Khazina Banda checkpost in Hangu district earlier this week, killing nine police personnel, including a deputy superintendent of police, and injuring 28 others. Officials attributed the assault to militants identified by the state as Fitna-al-Khawarij.

Security operations have also continued across Swat and Tank districts, where security forces reported killing several militants while preventing further attacks on police and military installations.

The meeting followed Naqvi’s discussion with President Asif Ali Zardari, during which both leaders reviewed the country’s overall law and order situation and ongoing efforts to combat terrorism, particularly in KP and Balochistan.
