TDAP and FPCCI Launch Trade Access Database to Expand Pakistan’s Global Export Opportunities

Trade Access Database launch at FPCCI Federation House in Karachi with TDAP officials.

Trade Access Database launched by TDAP and FPCCI to help Pakistani businesses explore international markets.

The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) have jointly launched the Preferential Trade Access Database (PTAD). The platform aims to help Pakistani businesses explore international markets and expand exports.

FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh and TDAP jointly hosted the inaugural session at Federation House in Karachi. The launch marks another step towards improving Pakistan’s access to global markets.

Sheikh described PTAD as an important institutional initiative. He said the platform would provide exporters, importers, manufacturers and international buyers with practical trade information.

Moreover, the database will help local businesses make informed decisions and connect Pakistani products with international opportunities. As a result, businesses can identify potential markets and better understand available trade benefits.

Database Covers 95 Countries and 29 Trade Arrangements

During the launch, Saquib Fayyaz Magoon briefed participants on the database’s main features and practical applications.

PTAD provides structured information on 29 preferential trade arrangements across 95 countries. Therefore, businesses can explore the benefits available under Pakistan’s existing trade agreements through one platform.

Magoon said the database covers tariff advantages, Rules of Origin and documentation requirements. These details will help exporters assess market access conditions and prepare the necessary documents.

In addition, users can search for products through their Harmonised System (HS) codes or product descriptions. The platform then identifies relevant preferential market access opportunities.

PTAD also incorporates updated information on the expansion of the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA). This development, in turn, creates further opportunities for regional trade.

TDAP Highlights Export Growth Potential

TDAP Director General Abdul Karim Memon described the launch as a significant step towards improving Pakistan’s global market access.

He noted that exporters and manufacturers had often underused existing trade agreements. This happened largely because businesses lacked access to consolidated information.

“By mapping 29 Preferential Trade Arrangements across 95 countries into a single platform, we are empowering our business community to maximise tariff advantages and drive sustainable export growth,” Memon said.

Furthermore, he stressed that TDAP’s core mission involves connecting Pakistan with international business opportunities. Through its partnership with FPCCI, the authority aims to put essential market intelligence directly into the hands of exporters, manufacturers and international buyers.

Memon added that PTAD would help businesses make better export decisions and improve regulatory compliance. Consequently, Pakistani products could compete more effectively in international markets.

Platform Aims to Simplify Export Procedures

FPCCI said the database would help businesses identify preferential access routes for their products. It would also guide them through the requirements of different trade agreements.

By bringing tariff information, Rules of Origin and documentation guidance together, PTAD aims to simplify export planning. Moreover, the platform could help businesses overcome information gaps that limit their use of preferential trade arrangements.

The database also highlights opportunities under the expanded Pakistan-Uzbekistan PTA. This feature further supports Pakistan’s regional trade ambitions.

Finally, the event concluded with a joint commitment from FPCCI and TDAP to strengthen cooperation. Both organisations pledged to advance trade intelligence, international market access and export development.
