Showbiz Desk: Prominent Bollywood actress Sushmita Sen is facing criticism for playing the role of a transgender social worker in her new web series ‘Taali’.
The former Miss Universe 1994 pageant shared a picture of her from the new web series ‘Taali’ with her fans on Instagram. In this picture, the actress can be seen dressed in red and green sarees and wearing a big maroon dot on her forehead.
Sushmita Sen wrote in the caption with hashtags, “#firstlook as #ShreegauriSawant. Nothing makes me prouder & more grateful than to have the privilege of portraying this beautiful person & of bringing her story to the world!! Here’s to life & to everyone’s right to live it with dignity!!! I love you guys!!! #duggadugga”
The web series ‘Taali’ is based on the life of a transgender Shreegauri Sawant, so most people are unhappy with Sushmita Sen for playing the role of a transgender social worker in a web series. Social media followers say that a transgender should have been cast for the role instead of a female actress to properly represent the transgender community.
Sushmita Sen is the first Indian actress to win the Miss Universe pageant in 1994. Early she has crowned Femina Miss India in 1994 at the age of 18. After winning the Miss Universe pageant, she worked as a film actress.
