Chitral : Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) in collaboration with The Department of Botany, University of Chitral, and the Chitral Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), successfully organized a seminar on “Issues and Challenges in the Export of Honey and Dry Fruits on 30th June 2025. The event was held at the University of Chitral and received active participation from the Agriculture Research Station, representatives of the Kalash community, Honey exporters, heads of departments, faculty members, and students of the University of Chitral.
The seminar aimed to address the pressing challenges faced by the honey and dry fruits sectors in the region, focusing on quality control, export potential, climate change impacts, and strategies to enhance Pakistan’s position in the global market.
Mr. Noman Bashir, Director General TDAP, extended a warm welcome to all guests and participants, highlighting TDAP’s commitment to supporting exporters and facilitating market access. Dr. Sana Ullah, Head of the Sociology Department, delivered the keynote address as the chief guest, emphasizing the socio-economic importance of honey and dry fruits for the local communities and the national economy.
Lecturer Hafiz Ullah, presented on “Climate Change Adaptation and Nature-Based Solutions,”underscoring the need for sustainable practices to protect apiculture and dry fruit cultivation from environmental challenges. Dr. Nasir Khan, Director Agriculture Research Station Chitral, addressed the critical issue of “The Quality of Honey and Adulteration,” stressing the importance of maintaining high standards to meet international export requirements.
This event provided a valuable platform for stakeholders to collaboratively discuss major hurdles and devise strategic solutions aimed at boosting the trade of honey and dry fruits both domestically and internationally. The organizers reaffirmed their commitment to continue fostering cooperation among industry players, researchers, and government bodies to unlock the full export potential of Chitral’s honey.
