KARACHI – Secretary Industries Sindh Muhammad Riazuddin has assured the industrialists of SITE area to play his due role in resolving issues being faced by industries of SITE area and improve its infrastructure on priority basis so as to continue industrial production unabated. He paid a visit to the SITE area on the invitation of  Abdul Hadi, President SITE Association of Industry and exchanged views on the infrastructure-related issues of the area with the office bearers and executive members. He assured the members of his full support & cooperation in the uplift of SITE infrastructure, aimed at industrial promotion. Senior Vice President Riazuddin, Vice President Abdul Kadir Bilwani, Ex-Presidents Majyd Aziz, Jawed Bilwani and Suleman Chawla and EC Member Arif Lakhani were also present on this occasion.

Briefing the Secretary Industries on the setting up of Combined Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) in SITE area, Abdul Hadi said that land is available in SITE for the said CETP. 1/3rd funds shall be provided by the Federal Government while 2/3rd funds will be arranged by Sindh government. The Federal Government has already issued the 1st installment out of the approved fund but despite the lapse of 14 months, there is no development on PC-I of the CETP. Abdul Hadi has requested the Sindh Government to immediately start construction work of CETP in SITE area as per commitment which is pending since long.

“Need to resolve infrastructure issues of the SITE area and mentioned that there is no proper garbage dumping point in the SITE area. As a result of which garbage is dumped at different places which has literally transformed the SITE area into a large ‘Kachra Kundi’, he stressed to stop this practice”.

SITE President also drew attention of Secretary Industries towards the harassment of industrialists by DMC staff on the matter of Trade License and stated that DMC has no authority to collect Trade License from SITE as the area comes under the jurisdiction of SITE Limited.

Abdul Hadi further mentioned that not only this, Stamp Duty officers are also harassing industrialists in the name of collection of stamp duty. They visit the factories and pressurize them to get stamp duty on all their purchases and appear before them in their office with details of all purchases and book of accounts which is creating trouble for the industries. He concluded that in the present technology-driven era, orders are received over email & WhatsApp and has demanded that stamp duty officers should be refrained from harassing industrialists in the name of collection of stamp duty.
