KARACHI: The Rotary Club of Karachi Nexus has organized a spelling bee competition and teachers training program in the educational institution under the Rotary Pakistan Literacy Mission. On this occasion, a polio awareness session was also held and polio drops were administered to children under 5 years of age.

Addressing the event, District Governor of Rotary International 3271 Muhammad Hanif Khan said that Rotary International is rendering significant services in every field of life. He said that under the Rotary Pakistan Literacy Mission, various projects are being worked on rapidly to increase the literacy rate in the country while eradicating polio from the country is also our important mission.
Hanif Khan added that here education is considered as a means of getting employment while education gives awareness to a person and makes him the best citizen of the society.
Further, he said that the youth of today are not behind anyone, if they are provided with good education and various training, they can make the name of the country and the nation shine all over the world.
Speaking at the event, RCK Nexus President Dr. Khalid Sheikh said that all the clubs of Rotary International are striving to fulfill all the goals diligently. He said that the elimination of polio and other deadly diseases from all over the world including Pakistan is the most important goal of the clubs of Rotary International under which the campaign of giving polio drops is being conducted from time to time.
Dr. Khalid Shaikh said that the purpose of organizing the educational spelling bee competition and teachers training program under the Ministry of Pakistan Literacy Mission is to equip teachers with the modern requirements of the education system along with increasing the mental abilities of students. So that our students and teachers can walk step by step with other developed countries.
Speaking at the event, Muhammad Ali Haider said that equipping children with modern education is the most important need of the hour. He said that Rotary International is providing training to teachers according to modern requirements because when the teachers learn to teach according to modern times, they will be able to equip the children of the nation with modern education.
Speaking at the event, Education Chair of RCK Nexus, Urooj Naqvi said that if the quality of education in Pakistan is to be improved and the literacy rate is to be increased, the training of teachers must be adapted to modern requirements. She said that we also have to gain awareness about the education style of other developed countries so that we can make our curriculum according to the modern education system because teachers can learn to teach children according to the requirements of modern education. As soon as they can teach the children it has become difficult for teachers to teach online in the era of the coronavirus and they did not know how to teach through the internet which made it difficult to teach the students.
On this occasion, Roshan Afzal, Teachers Training Chair of RCK Nexus said that it is very important to equip students in the third world with modern education so that the quality of education can be raised in all countries of South Asia. He said that no society can develop without education, so in countries that do not have quality education, they suffer from hunger, poverty, unemployment, and disease, and the crime rate is also high.
Roshan Afzal said that healthy children are the future of the nation who are making their iron by getting an education.
On this occasion, Syed Turab Shah praised the measures taken by President RCK’s nexus Dr. Khalid Sheikh to eradicate polio and said, God willing, polio will be eradicated from Pakistan very soon. He said that Pakistan will remain free of polio because our children are becoming disabled because of polio, who is our future.
Syed Turab Shah said that parents should give two drops of polio to each of their children below five years of age during every campaign as these two drops can protect them from life-long disability.
