France : A unique robbery was reported in the French region of Sainte-Rose, Guadeloupe, when a 60-year-old man waited to be arrested after robbing a supermarket. According to foreign media reports, this unique incident occurred in Saint Rose at the end of September. The robber, a former firefighter and with no criminal record, wore a black mask and entered the supermarket, which was located near the local police station, armed with a weapon. According to reports, the man asked for money from the counter, took a piece of cheese and a bottle of wine, then slowly walked towards his car and waited for the police to arrest him. According to reports, the man’s goal was to help his young grandson who was in prison. His lawyer told the media that his grandson had been tortured by prisoners and had a broken tooth. He wanted to go there and teach the prisoners a lesson because he was also a good fighter. The elderly man was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and rebellion. He pleaded guilty to the charges in court. But since this person’s intention was not for material gain but purely humane behavior, the court decided not to impose the normal sentence (which could have been 3 to 5 years).
