KARACHI– In a recent meeting, President Faraz-ur-Rehman of the Korangi Association of Trade and
Industry (KATI) and Chairman Shah Faisal Town, Gohar Khattak, discussed the pressing issues
surrounding unjustified notices and harassment faced by industrialists operating within KATI. The
meeting also delved into the new demarcation of the Korangi Industrial Area, aiming to bring clarity to
industrial zones.
Under the revised demarcation plan, the left side of the Korangi Industrial Area, stretching from Brooks
Chowrangi (Godown Chowrangi) to Indus Chowrangi (Singar Chowrangi), falls under the jurisdiction of
several townships within Shah Faisal Town.
President KATI, Faraz-ur-Rehman, voiced concerns about multiple complaints from KATI members
regarding harassment by authorities and called for the removal of obstacles in the issuance of trade
license fee challans by the town administration. He emphasized the need for addressing the grievances
of industrialists associated with KATI and simplifying the process of paying trade license fees.
In response, Chairman Shah Faisal Town, Gohar Khattak, assured President Faraz-ur-Rehman of his full
cooperation and pledged to promptly address the legitimate concerns of industrialists. He encouraged
KATI members and industrialists to promptly notify their association of any notices or communications
received from the town administration.
Khattak disclosed ongoing efforts to establish a single-window operation to streamline processes for
industrialists. He, along with President KATI, pledged to introduce a more accessible and straightforward
system for paying trade license fees. He anticipated that the industrialists in the Korangi Industrial Area
would be provided with clarity regarding trade license fee payments in the coming days.
Furthermore, Chairman Shah Faisal Town announced plans to initiate road carpeting projects in various
sectors to alleviate the challenges faced by industrialists, with a commitment to identify priority areas
promptly.
This collaborative effort between KATI and Shah Faisal Town officials signifies a commitment to resolving
issues faced by industrialists and enhancing the ease of doing business in the region.
