Karachi: The CEO of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board – KW&SB, Engineer Syed Salahuddin Ahmed said, providing health facilities to the people is our first priority while addressing the occasion of the inauguration of a one-day “Free Breast Cancer and Dengue Virus Medical Camp” with the collaboration of Karachi Water & Sewerage Board, Dr. Essa Laboratory & Diagnostic Centre, and Karachi Medical & Dental College.
On this occasion, CEO, Dr. Essa Laboratory & Diagnostic Centre, and Member Governing Board Karachi Medical & Dental College Professor Dr. Farhan Essa, Principal Professor Karachi Medical & Dental College, Dr. Nargis Anjum, General Manager, Business Development and Sales Dr. Essa Laboratory, Dr. Nayyer Jabeen, Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Essa Laboratory, Asadullah Khan, Tariq Alam, Camp Incharge Syed Tanveer Qadri, doctors and paramedical staff from Karachi Medical & Dental College, Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, NICVD, and other hospitals were also present in large numbers.
Addressing the event, Engr. Syed Salahuddin Ahmed said that Free Mega Medical has been organized for the first time for the employees of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board and their families, which is commendable. He said that providing health facilities to employees is our priority, while efforts are also being made to provide awareness about breast cancer among women employees of KWSB.
Engr. Syed Salahuddin Ahmed added that Dr. Essa Laboratory Diagnostics Centre is providing free tests for the employees and their families of KW&SB includes; ultrasound, ECG, and other tests.
Further, he said that there is a need to take strict measures to eliminate many deadly diseases from the country. It is also welcome that Karachi Medical & Dental College gets the status of a university. InShAllah very soon KMDC will be made a university that will be one of the best universities in Karachi.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Farhan Essa said that the purpose of the free medical camp is to help needy patients. He said that various diseases are spreading rapidly in Pakistan it is necessary to take steps to prevent them.
All deadly diseases, including Coronavirus, have to be saved and defeat these diseases. Since the country is not healthy, the country will not be able to develop. Prof. Dr. Farhan Essa said that the government’s vision is a healthy people under which the Sindh government is providing modern equipment, doctors, paramedical staff, and medicines in all government hospitals, dispensaries, and health centers.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Professor of Karachi Medical & Dental College Dr. Nargis Anjum said that the Sindh government was taking steps for the development of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board. While Barrister Murtaza Wabab’s direction, efforts are being made to provide community health services with various organizations.
She said that KMC and other institutions, under the leadership of Barrister Murtaza Wabab, would be able to develop, InshaAllah. Prof. Dr. Nargis Anjum said that the role of Dr. Essa’s laboratory is of utmost importance to protect people from diseases across the country.

From the medical camp, General Manager Business Development and Sales Dr. Essa Laboratory Dr. Nayyer Jabeen gave a special lecture on breast cancer, saying that the number of breast cancer patients in Pakistan is increasing rapidly.
Breast cancer is the only type of cancer, in which 90 % of successful treatment is possible for early diagnosis. But due to a lack of awareness of the disease, the women patient does not approach the doctor despite the symptom, due to which timely treatment is not provided and simply spreads. She said that the number of breast cancer patients in Pakistan is the highest in all countries of Asia.
On this occasion, Dr. Adil Ramzan said that measures need to be taken on an emergency basis to prevent the dengue virus because it is increasing rapidly in which many people have lost their lives. He said that the cure for dengue fever has not been discovered so far, but the intensity of the fever can be reduced with the use of medicines. Dengue fever is not a contagious disease. No need to keep isolated.
Dr. Adil Ramzan said that 50 million people are affected by the dengue virus every year while 97% of patients go to the doctor. Before 1970, this disease was present in only nine countries of the world. But now this disease has spread to more than a hundred countries. He said that in 2001, six million people were infected with this disease in America; most of the victims of the dengue virus are children.
At the end of the lecture shields and bouquets were presented to the chief guests and doctors by Dr. Essa Laboratory.
