ISLAMABAD: Asif Ali Zardari returned to Pakistan on Friday after completing a five-day official visit to China aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation across key economic sectors.

The president departed from Sanya on Thursday, where he was seen off at the airport by senior Chinese officials, including Wang Qiang. Also present on the occasion were Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong, and representatives from China’s foreign ministry.
During the visit, President Zardari held high-level meetings in the provinces of Hunan and Hainan, focusing on expanding cooperation in industrial development, agriculture, and the maritime economy. Discussions also emphasized advancing projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) 2.0 framework, with particular attention to boosting domestic industry and developing the blue economy.
In Changsha, three memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed between Pakistani and Chinese institutions to enhance collaboration in seawater desalination, agricultural technology, and the tea sector. Additionally, in Sanya, two more MoUs and a joint investment agreement were finalized in the presence of the president, covering cooperation in machinery, animal vaccines, and medical technology.
Officials described the visit as a step forward in deepening economic ties between Pakistan and China, with a focus on sustainable development and long-term strategic partnership.
