Pakistan Wins Bronze in PUBG Mobile at Asian Games

TOKONAME: Pakistan secured its fifth medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Tuesday after the country’s PUBG Mobile team won bronze in the esports competition at Aichi Sky Expo.

Pakistan finished third in the 12-match competition with 100 points. Thailand claimed gold with 128 points, while China secured silver with 114 points.

Pakistan sealed the bronze after finishing third in the final match. The team collected 12 points, including four placement points and eight elimination points.

Japan won the final match with 18 points, while Thailand finished second with 14.

Pakistan Adds Fifth Bronze

The PUBG Mobile medal takes Pakistan’s total medal tally at the Games to five bronzes.

The country’s other bronze medals came from the women’s cricket team, modern MMA fighter Asim Khan, and squash players Noor Zaman and Ashab Irfan.

Pakistan’s women’s cricket team secured its medal on September 22 after defeating Bangladesh by 31 runs.

Noor Zaman and Ashab Irfan also secured bronze medals after reaching the men’s singles squash semi-finals.

PUBG Team Finishes Strongly

Pakistan’s PUBG Mobile team featured Mohammad Huzaifa, Shayan Asad, Falak Sher, Hasnain Rehman and Syed Sameer.

The team entered the second day of competition in medal contention after collecting 39 points from the opening six matches.

Pakistan added 61 points across the final six matches to reach 100 points overall.

The team recorded 16 points in the seventh match and 10 points each in the eighth and ninth. Pakistan then collected 12 points in the 11th match and another 12 in the final match.

Thailand maintained its lead throughout the competition and finished 28 points ahead of Pakistan. China secured silver after finishing 14 points ahead of the Pakistani team.

Vietnam and Indonesia both finished on 95 points. South Korea collected 71, while Chinese Taipei and Jordan finished with 62 and 61 points respectively.

Esports Adds to Pakistan’s Medal Haul

The bronze marks Pakistan’s podium finish in an esports discipline at the Games.

PUBG Mobile was among the esports medal events at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. Twelve teams competed across two days.

The final standings were determined by the aggregate points collected over 12 matches.

Pakistan’s performance adds another sport to its growing medal haul and gives the country a bronze medal in the rapidly expanding esports category.
