Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, described mangoes as the “King of Fruits” and a symbol of Pakistan’s cultural heritage. He said Pakistani mangoes are known for their distinctive aroma, sweetness and flavour. He added that sharing the fruit with Chinese friends reflects the warmth, hospitality and enduring friendship between the two countries.
The ambassador said the festival combined culture, commerce and cuisine while creating new opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
Several senior Chinese officials, business representatives and members of the diplomatic corps attended the event. Representatives of Pakistani mango growers and exporters also participated. Guests praised the embassy’s efforts to promote Pakistan’s agricultural products and cultural heritage in China.
The festival also produced tangible business outcomes. Organisers witnessed the signing of two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on mango trade and logistics between China Ole High End Super Market and Tianjin Midtrans Int Co., as well as Hainan Jiao Long Technology Co. and RIC Nexus. The agreements aim to expand agricultural cooperation and improve mango exports between Pakistan and China.
Guests enjoyed cultural performances by the Pakistani music band Kaltoor and students from the Pakistan Embassy College Beijing. The programme featured traditional Pakistani and Chinese songs, adding a cultural highlight to the celebrations.
The embassy presented four popular Pakistani mango varieties, including Sindhri, Chaunsa, Anwar Ratol, and Dusehri. Visitors sampled the fruit and appreciated its unique taste and texture.
The Embassy of Pakistan organised the festival for the second consecutive year. Officials said the event strengthened cultural exchanges and reinforced the expanding agricultural, economic and diplomatic partnership between Pakistan and China.
